Single-stage pumps have only one impeller, while multistage pumps have at least two. The impeller of a centrifugal pump is responsible for pressurizing and moving the liquid. Since a multistage pump has multiple impellers, its pressure range and flow rate are much greater.
Multistage pumps are similar in design to centrifugal pumps, with multiple impellers rotating around an axis, allowing the pump to reach higher pressures than when using only one impeller.
